Abstract This study assessed comparative analysis of internal supervision in public and private secondary schools in Oyun Local Government Area, Kwara State. Descriptive research design was adopted. The study population comprised 1,039 and 157 teachers in the 20 public and four private secondary schools respectively in the LGA. Multi-stage sampling technique was used to arrive at 355 teachers used as the respondents for the study. Self-designed questionnaire entitled “Internal Supervision Questionnaire” was used to collect data. The instrument was validated, tested for reliability and found coefficient of 0.86; while t-test was used to analyze the data. The findings revealed that, there was a significant difference in the supervision of instruction, co-curricular activities, school facilities and teachers’ discipline between public and private secondary schools in Oyun Local Government Area, Kwara State. Based on the findings and conclusion of the study that private secondary schools were doing better than the public secondary schools in internal supervision, it was recommended that public secondary school principals should intensify efforts in order to achieve improved supervision of instruction while the principals in private secondary schools should not relent in the manner in which they are supervising instruction to enhance school effectiveness.
